Swimming in the natural lake

The LuxOase is located directly by a reservoir offering up to 35 hectares of water surface. The lake and its shores are largely untouched, providing a home to numerous animals. Locals and holidaymakers alike enjoy the lake for swimming and recreation. A small stream flows through the lake, ensuring a constant supply of fresh water.

Access for swimmers is available through several small bays in the reed belt, as well as a natural meadow area on the southern shore, where the water is shallow and easy to enter. Swimming is entirely at your own risk. There is no sandy beach here, but rather a natural area rich in flora and fauna. For children, it’s advisable to bring water shoes, floaties, or even an air mattress. Stand up paddling is permitted.

The lake is also a paradise for anglers. It is part of the DAV (German Anglers Association) waters, and all fishing enthusiasts with a valid fishing license can purchase day or week passes at the nearby angler’s shop in Pulsnitz or Ottendorf-Okrilla.
Current notice: Due to maintenance work on the railway embankment and the associated lowering of the water level, fishing at the Wallroda Reservoir is completely prohibited from October 6, 2025 until further notice.

Those who prefer swimming in a fun pool rather than in nature will find one of Saxony’s most beautiful adventure pools just 3 km away in Großröhrsdorf - with many slides, diving towers, numerous water attractions, and a lovely area for small children. The pool is easily reachable by bicycle and is located directly in a beautiful forest area adjoining the campsite and the reservoir.

An indoor adventure pool with several slides and wave facilities, designed in a subtropical style, can be found about 20 km away in Neustadt/Saxony. Other attractive indoor and leisure pools can be found in Dresden.
