Animals: At the Moritzburg Wildlife Park, you can observe a wide variety of animals native to German forests, including an impressive wolf enclosure. Dresden Zoo is home to exotic creatures from around the world, while the small but charming animal park in Bischofswerda features a petting zoo where children can get up close to local farm animals. The Bischofswerda Animal Park also has alpacas, porcupines, snowy owls, and many more fascinating species.

Adventure & Theme Parks: A Jurassic Park in Saxony? Welcome to the Saurierpark in Kleinwelka near Bautzen! Life-sized dinosaur models, thrilling documentaries about prehistoric life on the big screen, a 360° capsule journey to the Earth’s core, and huge playgrounds and climbing areas await you. Right next door are the Kleinwelka Maze and the Miniature Park. For those seeking a real amusement park, Belantis in Leipzig offers exciting rides such as “The Pharaoh’s Curse,” “Dragon Ride,” and spectacular roller coasters. Smaller theme parks include the Miniature Park "Small Saxon Switzerland" in Dorf Wehlen , where you can see all the sights of Saxon Switzerland in miniature, and "Steinreich" – a charming fairy-tale world near the Bastei. Fans of Karl May, Winnetou, and Old Shatterhand will love the Karl May Museum in Radebeul.

Creative activities: In the Gingerbread Town of Pulsnitz, only 10 minutes from LuxOase, you can bake and decorate your own gingerbread – and even personalize it as a gift with colorful icing. At the Museum of Ribbon Weaving in Großröhrsdorf, you can learn about the traditional craft and try your hand at weaving. Candle-making workshops are also offered in Saxon Switzerland.

Active outdoor fun: Combine a visit to Königstein Fortress with a stop at the Climbing Labyrinth in Seifhennersdorf. A raft or inflatable boat tour on the Elbe is wonderfully relaxing. Within 20–30 minutes, you’ll find three high ropes and climbing parks, including Germany’s largest forest climbing park in Dresden-Bühlau. The treetop courses and flying fox zip lines promise a true adrenaline rush. At LuxOase itself, in addition to playgrounds, there’s also a dirt bike track for cycling enthusiasts.

Active indoor fun: The fun begins right at LuxOase’s indoor playground! For even more action, visit Remmi-Demmi-Kinderland, Kids Planet Dresden, Kuddeldaddeldu, or Playport Dresden - huge indoor play worlds full of adventure. You’ll also find several climbing gyms, laser tag arenas, and escape rooms in the area, offering exciting experiences for all ages.

Water Parks: One of Saxony’s most beautiful outdoor water park is Masseneibad in the neighboring town of Großröhrsdorf. Giant tube slides, 5- and 3-meter diving towers, and plenty of water attractions await swimmers of all ages. For indoor fun, check out Mariba in Neustadt (about 20 minutes away) with its subtropical setting and wave pool, Georg-Arnold-Bad near Dresden’s Great Garden, or Elbamare in Dresden-Gorbitz. The famous Tropical Islands resort in Brandenburg is just over an hour’s drive away and offers massive indoor water adventures!

Museums for Kids: At the Elementarium Kamenz, you’ll learn fascinating facts about the formation of our region and can even experience an earthquake simulator. Klippenstein Castle in Radeberg offers children’s tours and special vacation programs. The German Hygiene Museum invites you to explore your senses and your body in an interactive way, while the Transport Museum in Dresden lets you control model trains on a huge railway layout. At the National Park Center Saxon Switzerland, you can take a geological time journey through local flora and fauna and enjoy a multimedia show about this unique natural region.
